I’ve had it. Today I am celebrating 8 weeks post emergency c-section. 8 weeks of struggle, pain and immobility. I barely recognise myself. 10kg which weren’t there before, angry stretchmarks, dry tired skin. And I feel like a shadow of myself. Full-on survival mode with a baby that Will. Not. Be. Put. Down.
Today is the day I am cleared by my midwife to resume daily activities and light exercise. I’m not completely sure what that means, but will make full use of it. If you know the story behind BlueberryWarrior you know that I’ve been here before. Six years ago my life was turned around when I had to admit I couldn’t even lift my toddler. I decided to become strong for him – and fell in love with calisthenics.
Today I’m standing at the starting line of that same journey. Only this time, I am embarking on the journey as a Health & Nutrition coach. I know the science. I have the tools. I’m going to coach myself back to health, and I want you to walk with me.
Let me be brutally honest. Right now, I’m struggling. I am stressed and exhausted and the answer to all my problems is chocolate. My first has ADHD, my second has colic. I’m no spring chicken, don’t have extra cash to spend on organic foods, refuse to go to the gym and my big goal for today is to wash the baby’s hands.
My point is, if I can find my way back to health, so can anyone. So can you.
I’m serious. Walk with me. Follow along on the BlueberryWarrior blog or my Facebook page. Maybe you’ll find there’s something you’d like to change. Maybe there’s a goal that seems too big to reach. I’d be honored to help you finally achieve it. Or maybe you just want to read along for entertainment and keep me and all other Blueberry Warriors in your prayers.
A Word on Coaching:
These days life coaches seem to pop up like mushrooms after a rain in fall. If you are looking for guidance you can book coaching sessions online, watch a video on YouTube, read a self-help book or – my favourite – consult your preferred AI. Will these help you? Probably yes. Likely, like me, they will help you determine what you are looking to change and how to get there.
Why then should you work with me instead? I’m glad you asked.
Firstly, to call myself a Nutritionist I had to work bloody hard for 5 long years to get my Master’s degree. This wasn’t just ‘Weightloss 101’. I have studied anatomy, economy, food law, chemistry, public health, counselling etc. I also have 10 years of experience as a food technologist working in the industry. And to call myself a Health and Nutrition Coach I have to put in another 1.5 years of studying after working hours. I know my stuff.
Secondly, I’ve done it. On several occasions throughout my life I’ve either lost a good amount of weight or completely changed myself for the better. I know how hard it is, and I have failed plenty of times. But in the end, we got there. Right now, I’m in the trenches with you, looking to make a change. Because I’m an imperfect human too.
Coaching is very different from consulting. Unlike a consultant (or many coaches out there) I do not tell you what you need to change. I also won’t often tell you what to do. Rather, I am listening. I am asking questions. I am helping you work out what your path looks like and what needs to happen. Because you are the expert on you. I’m also a professional butt-kicker. Unlike AI, I will check in with you as agreed, whether you had a good week or a bad one.
If it was good we celebrate. If it was bad we own it and move on.
Alright. Ready or not, let’s do this.
